I was raised in NH by parents who owned several small businesses. (Their ski shop was my favorite; it was their greatest accomplishment, running it for over 20 years. Sidenote: the winter coat displays were the perfect hiding spot for my sister and I and our fierce hide-and-seek games.) Growing up in small-town New England in the 70's and 80's there were no big box stores; neighbors and friends ran businesses. I truly only knew small business as a way of life.

My first studio, Pottery Works, opened in Jacksonville, Florida in 1997, after a honeymoon in Canada and the discovery of a small, slope-side studio. I sold Pottery Works five years later when a move with my Navy husband took us around the US for a bit. I was painting custom handprint pieces and started consulting with new studios (my first was a great shop in Ocean Springs, MS). We eventually landed in Charlotte, NC where I opened my second studio, Art Space Studio. I sold Art Space Studio late 2019, after running it for over twelve years.

hi!

I'm Valerie Robertson

Favorite colors: green and pink

Favorite food: bowls: Mediterranean bowls, burrito bowls, smoothie bowls...you name it!

Favorite outdoor activity: long walks—especially if they’re on the beach!

Hi there! I’m Valerie—most people call me Val—and I’m so happy to be part of Hillary’s amazing team at TCR!

My passion for this creative industry began at Picasso’s Palette in Ocala, FL, my first job at 14, where I discovered how much I love helping small businesses thrive through creative marketing and community connections.

Since joining Hillary's team in November of 2024, I’ve loved getting to know each studio's unique needs and finding ways to support their growth. Now based in Atlanta, GA, after graduating from Florida State University with a degree in Information, Communication, and Technology, I've gained experience in social media management, digital marketing, and creative design. I’m thrilled to keep bringing these skills to support your studio’s vision and help it flourish.

Can’t wait to connect and continue making amazing things happen together!

hey y'all!

I'm Lindsay Floyd

Favorite colors: orange and purple (go Tigers!)

Favorite food: tacos!

Favorite outdoor activity: swimming, gem mining and sunset walks

Hey!  Lindsay Floyd here!  I am thrilled to be spreading my creative wings and joining Hillary’s dream team!  Hillary and I go way back!  As a new mom in 2008, I started working at Hillary’s studio, Art Space Studio, as a part time gig.  However, my love for art and creativity exploded in the best way!  I was crowned “Queen of Custom” and continued painting for Hillary through the years.  I can’t hear Christmas music without thinking of handprint ornaments!  You get it!

Graduating from Clemson University and living in Fort Mill, SC, I look forward to bringing southern charm, inspiration and inventiveness to unlock any untapped potential.  As a former Special Education teacher, I thrive in thinking outside of the box and love celebrating wins - big or small!

Communication is my superpower and I can’t wait to connect with all of you!  I am eager to fold into the day to day happenings of your small businesses and identify where we can bloom and flourish together.  Spreadsheets are my love language and look forward to coupling my artistry with my ability to crunch numbers, maximize profit and capitalize on research and development.

To embrace my passion for creating while aiding in people’s success is an absolute dream!  Thank you for allowing me to be part of your journey!

hi!

I'm Cassidy Chester

Favorite colors: blue and green

Favorite food: sushi all the way!

Favorite outdoor activity: I have a pass to the Biltmore House and I love going on long walks through the gardens!

Hi! My name is Cassidy! I’ve been a part of the PYOP industry for what feels like my entire life. My family moved to Asheville, North Carolina in the summer of 2008 when I was around 12 years old. My mom was ready to do something more creative for work and was hoping to open her own small paint your own pottery studio. As luck would have it, a PYOP studio was already for sale in Downtown Asheville! So she took the plunge, purchased the business, and started running our studio, Fired Up! Creative Lounge.

From that year forward I spent afternoons at Fired Up after school, went to work with my mom on the weekends, and eventually started officially working in the studio in High School. As time has gone on, I’ve taken on more responsibility at the studio, and one day I will take it over from my mom when the time comes.

I am a creative person at heart. As a kid I filled notebooks with drawings, tried my hand at all kinds of crafts, and wrote stories all day long (I even have a Bachelor’s in creative writing). Despite my proclivity for art, pottery was not always something on my mind, and I feel very grateful that the job I do came into my life. Now that I am a part of the PYOP industry, I don’t know that I could ever leave! I have met so many wonderful people (Hillary included!) through this job and get to do something I love every day!

As a part of Hillary’s team, I paint pottery pieces for her to photograph. Despite working every day in a pottery studio, you’d be surprised how little pottery I paint, so this was a welcome addition to my usual work! I always enjoy getting to brainstorm a new set of pieces each month and let my creativity out. I hope you enjoy my pieces as much as I enjoy painting them!
